Social Grouping Algorithm Aided Maximum Power Point Tracking Scheme for Partial Shaded Photovoltaic Array

Photovoltaic (PV) systems-based energy generation is relatively easy to install, even at a large scale, because it scalable in size and thus transport. Harnessing maximum power only possible if tracking (MPPT) functionality available as part of the converter control that interfaces PV panels grid. Solar exposure covering all unlikely happen time, which known partial shading (PS) phenomenon. As result, depending on MPPT algorithm adopted, may fail find global peak, being locked into local peak. This research work discusses an alternative technique inspired social group optimization (SGO) algorithm. SGO belongs meta-heuristic techniques family. In this sense, method ability for solving problems explored point (GMPP) under presence MPPs. The introduced SGO–MPPT was subjected different PS conditions complex patterns. Then, its performance compared other search techniques, include particle swarm (PSO), dragon fly (DFO) artificial bee colony (ABC). simulation outcomes characterization showed good results, namely rapid less than 0.2 s with reduced oscillation; efficiency solar harness slightly above 99%.
